Eastern Chipmunk, tamias stiatus, are small rodents in belonging to the squirrel family. They are up to 6 inches long with a 3 inch tail, and feel most at home in plenty of ground cover like rocks, stumps, and logs. They make 2 different types of borrows: shallow burrows in which they rest during the day and more elaborate, deeper (up to 3 feet!) burrows where they store food and nest during winter months. They can gather up to 165 acorns a day, and rarely scurry further than a 1/3 mile away from their nests. Open edition Giclee Print Archival paper 6in. x 8in.
