White Pine, Pinus strobus, is a tree native to the Northeastern United States. It has been one of the most widely used trees in the US. It has been made into furniture, used in ship building, and home construction. It's leaf-tips contain more Vitamin C than oranges- it's great for making tea. The sap can be used to make pitch and the pine tar can be made from the branches and roots. It also has value apart from it's "uses" Truly, it's an amazing tree, but its true value is in the fact that it is. Living things do not need to be useful to us in order to have value. I'm so thankful for White Pine!
